After rescuing a teen high on LSD from a local rooftop, businessman Robert Squire (Howard Culver) suggests to Sgt. Joe Friday (Jack Webb) and Officer Bill Gannon (Harry Morgan) that the trio start an organization dedicated to presenting the dangers of drugs to unsuspecting youngsters. Christened “Smart Teens,” planning soon gets underway to get the program up and running. Though Friday, Gannon, and Squire are initially dismayed at the lack of turnout at the first meeting, kids eventually start trickling in and it’s explained that a pre-meeting had been held at another site to explain what the scheduled meeting with the police was all about. Convinced that the kids are smart enough to think for themselves. Friday and Gannon leave the teens to their own devices., A businessman’s war against drug addiction results in a new group whose motto is “freaking out isn’t in.” Friday: Jack Webb.
