Friday (Jack Webb) and Officer Gannon (Harry Morgan), and it’s not long before the tenacious lawmen are working to bring founder Bonnie Bates (Virginia Gregg) down. It seems that prospectors are drawn into a attending enrollment drives in hotel conference rooms with promises of lucrative moneymaking, only to be swindled by paying a fee to join the suspicious Dollar Wise shopping club that offers consumer-merchandise discounts. As Bates’ case is discussed in court, it appears as if she may have the upper hand until the prosecuting attorney asks for details that ultimately reveal the true nature of the scam., Friday’s target: an investment organization that operates like a chain-letter racket.
