For some viewers the non-stop silliness emanating from former members of the Monty Python gang is not the least funny; others find it rib-splittingly humorous. In this story brought to the screen by Terry Jones, the excessively brutal world-view of the Vikings comes in for typically Pythonesque, off-the-wall ridicule. In the story, Tim Robbins plays Erik, an unwilling Viking, who is nonetheless made to participate in his family’s lifestyle of committing murder and mayhem on a grand scale. Along the way, he manages to lose his heart to a girl whose village he is raiding – just before he pierces her heart with his sword. Eventually, he decides to end the whole Viking experience by bringing on Raganarok, the Viking apocalypse. To do that, he must go on a memorable mythological journey that takes him to Valhalla and beyond. Just through reading the description of the story, it is impossible to convey its profound silliness: only seeing is believing., An extravagant fantasy, packed with irreverent humour and incredible sets and effects. Tim Robbins plays Erik, a Viking warrior who embarks on a noble voyage to find Asgaard – the fabled City of the Gods – and plead with the Immortals to bring the Sun back to Earth once more. Along the way, the intrepid voyagers encounter such perils as the Dragon of the North Sea, the wrath of Halfdan the Black (John Cleese) and the revoltingly peaceful people of Hy-rasil (ruled over by Terry Jones)., A Viking tired of his Viking ways decides to set out on a quest to retrieve the sunlight that was stolen from his people. He is accompanied by a band of warriors on a journey to ask the gods to end the Age of Ragnorok., Director Terry Jones’ Pythonesque farce about a warrior (Tim Robbins) whose Norse code sets him on a quest to rid the land of violence., After directing the last three Monty Python films and Personal Services, Terry Jones turned his attentions to the Vikings in this slapstick fantasy. Tim Robbins stars as a Viking chieftain fed up with constant war, rape and pillage. He is charged by wizard Eartha Kitt to seek out the peaceful island of Hy-Brazil where a blast on the Horn Resounding will bring peace. And so he and his weird crew set off, with bizarre adventures just over the horizon…
