Maris Returns
In the first episode of a two-part story, the never-seen but omnipresent Maris comes back into the life of her ex-husband Niles (David Hyde Pierce) — but only to get some free advice on how to handle her current lover, a libidinous Latino with a violent temper. The “fun” really begins when Niles resorts to subterfuge to prevent Maris from confronting the pregnant Daphne (Jane Leeves), who has been experiencing some rather spectacular mood swings. In the end, it is poor Frasier (Kelsey Grammer), already skittish about returning to private practice, who tries to come to Niles and Maris’ rescue — and nearly gets killed in the process., The return of Maris, still unseen, vexes Niles, who covers up his evasiveness with Daphne by throwing his bride a baby shower. The last-minute soiree turns into a disaster. And so does Frasier’s reentry into private practice., Niles’ ex-wife Maris needs his help, but can he keep her return secret from pregnant and emotional Daphne? And Frasier’s return to private practice becomes a comedy of errors thanks to a series of testing patients., Niles lies to Daphne about his lunch plans with Maris., Maris needs advice from Niles about her relationship.
