The nation’s greatest chefs compete for the chance to cook a banquet., Great British Menu is back and the nation’s greatest chefs are competing to cook at a special banquet at the Royal Albert Hall to celebrate 25 years of Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day and celebrate the unsung heroes of charity work. Not only do they have to deliver a performance on a plate to win, they will also have to put a smile on everyone’s face. The chefs will also be set fundraising challenges to raise money for Comic Relief. Also, each week a special guest will also join the judging triumviate. The curtain raises on London and the South East. Newcomers Matt Gillan and Adam Simmonds come face-to-face with returning contender Tom Aikens. It is the main course and rabbit, rose veal and venison are all dished up for Great British Menu veteran Richard Corrigan. Plus one of the chefs is joined by Eastenders star June Brown for a fundraising challenge., The curtain raises on London and the South East., It is the battle of the London and South East chefs – newcomers Phil Howard, Graham Garrett and Marcus McGuinness. All of them are determined to knock out their rivals in the race to the Olympic banquet. They cook their main course, but only one chef will take gold. Will it be Phil with roast loin of lamb with pie and mash, carrots, nettles and mint; Graham with slow cooked marsh lamb breast, rasher and spiced rissole; or Marcus with blade of beef cooked in hay, tendons and beetroot? Great British Menu veteran Jason Atherton is scoring them all week.
