Great British Menu is back and the nation’s greatest chefs are competing to cook at a special banquet at the Royal Albert Hall to celebrate 25 years of Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day and celebrate the unsung heroes of charity work. Not only do they have to deliver a performance on a plate to win, they will also have to put a smile on everyone’s face. The chefs will also be set fundraising challenges to raise money for Comic Relief. Also, each week a special guest will also join the judging triumviate. The competition heats up as the three returning Scottish contenders, Michael Smith, Tony Singh and Mark Greenaway, cook their main courses. An African inspired goat tagine, a beef dish inspired by a childhood cartoon and a duck dish with a comedy twist are dished up for veteran judge Angela Hartnett MBE., Chefs compete for the chance to cook at a prestigious banquet., Series in which top chefs are challenged to cook for the ultimate street party. The chefs from Scotland battle it out with their main courses. Philip Carnegie, Tony Singh and Michael Smith are determined to win but which dish will take pole position? Will it be barbequed Scottish lamb with slaw and pink fir apple wedges, scran, or stuffed saddle of lamb with saffron dressed vegetables and goat’s cheese puree?, Great British Menu is back and the fight is on as some of the nation’s greatest chefs battle for the chance to cook a glittering Olympic banquet. The feast will honour the hopes and achievements of the country’s sporting heroes, and it will be a glorious celebration of Britain’s culinary talents. This time it is the battle of the Scottish chefs – returning contender Alan Murchison and newcomers Colin Buchan and Mark Greenaway. Sir Matthew Pinsent takes time out to meet one of the chefs and give them valuable tips on competing at the highest level. All three chefs are determined to knock out their rivals in the race to the banquet. This is the big one, the main course, but which one will get top marks? Will it be barbecued veal with macaroni cheese, spinach and watercress; beef rump and terrine; or loin of blackface lamb with sweetbreads?
