Drama based on the classic Charlotte Bronte novel. Charlotte Gainsbourg stars as Jane, an orphan who has found work in Fornfield Hall, a sombre mansion owned by Mr Rochester (William Hurt). At Fornfield, Jane is to work for the friendly Mrs Fairfax (Joan Plowright) and she is to care for a young girl named Adele, but Mr Rochester remains a distant and threatening figure.
