An American astronaut is selected to lead a British crew to a journey to another planet, hence the title. Colonel Glenn Ross (Roy Thinnes) is selected because of his previous experience in space travel. The crew sleeps for three weeks in a drug induced state of suspended animation while the rocket races closer to the unknown planet.
