Circus Man
A traveling entertainer dispenses powders with “healing powers.” Michael Landon, Karen Grassle, Melissa Gilbert., Jovial Willie O’Hara, a medicine salesman, comes to Walnut Grove with his “circus” which cures Mr. Hanson’s incurable headache, which gets the community talking., A medicine man adorned with bravado and sleight of hand stays with the Ingalls family and advertises his miracle powder. After residents start to prefer his powders over Doc Baker’s medical treatment, the Ingallses send him packing. However, when Jack (the dog) is injured by a wagon, he returns to bring Laura the hope she needs and eventually confesses the truth., Red Buttons guest stars as charismatic traveling circus man Mr. O’Hara. While performing magic tricks for the Walnut Grove citizenry, O’Hara leads his audience to believe that his “special” powders have marvelous healing powers. Falling for the circus man’s blarney hook, line, and sinker, Mrs. Oleson (Katherine MacGregor) ends up endangering her health — not to mention her life.
