The Faith Healer
On Mrs. Oleson’s invitation, the Rev. James Danforth comes to Walnut Grove to give residents his charismatic, fiery style of preaching., Reverend Edward Danforth, a faith healer, comes to town. Doc Baker and Reverend Alden are soon forgotten by the community., Walnut Grove is mesmerized by a faith healer (James Olson). Charles: Michael Landon. Dobbs: Tom Rosqui. Reverend Alden: Dabbs Greer. Mrs. Oleson: Katherine MacGregor. Timothy: Joey Seifers., James Olson guest stars as “Reverend” Edward Danforth, a bombastic faith healer who descends upon Walnut Grove. So persuasive is Danforth’s rhetoric and his laying-on-of-hands technique that soon both Rev. Alden (Dabbs Greer) and Doc Baker (Kevin Hagen) are shunned by the community as being hopelessly old-fashioned. But Danforth is exposed as a fraud when tragedy strikes in the home of a boy suffering from a ruptured appendix.
