As Locke flashes back to the time when his need for fatherly love landed him in a dangerous predicament, Ana Lucia, Sayid, and Charlie make an unsettling discovery deep in the jungle. Back in his former life, Locke was a contented home inspector preparing to propose to Helen when he received word that his father had died. But things with Cooper aren’t always what they seem, and it isn’t long before Locke’s old man turns up spinning his biggest yarn ever. According to Cooper, he faked his own death in order to cover his tracks after pulling a $700,000 retirement con. He wants to set up a new identity, but since he fears that he’s being watched Cooper asks Locke to retrieve the stolen funds from a safety deposit box. While Locke refuses to be conned again, the prospect of saving his father prompts the love-starved son to reluctantly agree. But after Locke recovers the cash, the same men who were after his father threaten to dispense with Helen unless their money is safely returned. Locke lies to protect his father, and with that lie he loses the one person who truly does love him. Down in the hatch the blast doors suddenly come slamming down, crushing Locke’s legs. In order to get out, Locke will need Henry’s help.
