Andrew Litvack’s farce Merci Docteur Rey stars Stanislas Merhar as Thomas, a young man who is just starting to embrace his homosexuality as his opera singer mother (Dianne Wiest) visits. Answering an intriguing personal ad, Thomas hides in a closet and sees a murder. Unsure what to do next, he makes an appointment with a psychiatrist and reveals everything. The real doctor has died, however, and the person he has told about the murder is another patient. A prank phone call convinces Thomas’ mother that he has been kidnapped. Thomas eventually learns that he was closer to the murderer and the victim than he ever knew.
