Romantic drama about a beautiful woman from a proud but poor New Orleans family who is jilted by the man she loves, a young doctor, for another woman. However, the tables are turned when she inherits a fortune and sets about winning back her sweetheart., This period melodrama stars Ava Gardner as Barbara Beaurevel, a woman who inherits a substantial fortune from her grandmother.
