My Name Is Khan

Director Karan Johar’s fourth movie is an ambitious family drama set in America. It is the story of a man with Asperger’s syndrome, Rizwan Khan, who moves to San Francisco to live with his brother and sister-in-law. There, the young Muslim meets Mandira, a beautiful Hindu woman, who has a young son from a previous marriage. Rizwan falls in love with her and insists that they marry, despite the protests of their families. Rizwan, Mandira and her young son, Sameer, are blissfully happy until the events of September 11 2001 turn their lives upside down. Anti-Muslim feelings brings tragedy into their home and Mandira slowly turns against Rizwan. Rizwan believes he has to change the widely held view that all Muslims are terrorists, and sets out on his mission across America in the hope of meeting the president and righting the wrongs the attacks have caused him and others.
