As their own wedding date draws near, Omkara begins to suspect Dolly is having an affair with his lieutenant Keshav. Based on William Shakespeare’s “Othello.”, Omkara, Vishal Bhardwaj’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s Othello, tells of intense love, power, corruption and jealousy, leading to a tragic climax. Bhardwaj renames Desdemona, Othello, Cassio and Iago, transposing the drama to political Uttar Pradesh in India. Saif Ali Khan is terrific, dynamic and sinister as Langda Tyagi, proving that, given a meaty role, he is a versatile, intense and accomplished actor.
