Reconstruction Blues
The aftermath on Earth is gauged by the SDF-1 crew., Two years after the near-total destruction of Earth, human and Zentraedi work together to rebuild the world as best as they can. New Macross City has sprung up around the remains of the SDF-1, now at rest in the middle of a lake. Rick and other fighter pilots spend their time patrolling the wasteland, keeping an eye out for potential renegade Zentraedi. And though Rick and Lisa are close, Lisa still can’t bring herself to tell Rick how she feels — and Rick is still stuck on Minmei, though he hasn’t seen her in a long time. Lisa doesn’t think she can compete with Minmei’s glamour, but few people suspect that her life is anything but rosy; Kyle, who has been acting as Minmei’s business partner and manager, continues to blame the military for the world’s ills and is drinking heavily. Rick’s attempt to visit Minmei is cut short when everyone’s fears come true, and disenchanted Zentraedi start to attack New Portland.
