Reflex Point
The Invid Regis is preparing to transform her largely dormant race to take on human form, after determining that it is the best suited for surviving on the planet Earth. However, she is becoming ever more disturbed as an increasing number of resistance fighters converge on Reflex Point, and a fleet from Rick Hunter’s expeditionary force is emerging from hyperspace. Scott Bernard and his freedom fighters witness the end of a skirmish between the Invid forces and an advance force from the fleet, and when they investigate they find no survivors — except for Sue Graham, an intelligence officer who seems more interested in recording the battles than helping her comrades survive them. Despite the group’s distaste for her lack of feelings, they’re interested when she tells them of the approaching fleets, and of a new type of Veritech fighter that the Invid’s protoculture sensors can’t detect: the Shadow fighter., A war is brewing between the Invid horde and Admiral Rick Hunter’s returning expeditionary force.
