Per the title, this Selig costume drama is set in Ancient Rome. Abandoned at birth, the heroine is adopted by an aristocratic family. Upon reaching adulthood, the girl is about to marry into great wealth, when it is revealed that she is actually the daughter of a slave. A despotic ruler uses her heritage as an excuse to evict the girl and her foster family from their estate and set up his headquarters therein, prompting the local citizens to stage a rebellion. The ruler is overthrown, and the heroine is allowed to proceed with her interrupted wedding. And it all takes place in about 12 minutes!
