Passover
Shortly after Caesar’s murder, Octavian devises a plan to keep his family from fleeing the city, news that Antony happily delivers to a nervous Brutus. Meanwhile, Vorenus mourns Niobe’s death but curses his children, and Pullo and Eirene get married without knowing what’s happened back in Rome., Caesar is dead, murdered in the Senate by Brutus. Anthony scrambles together an exit out of the city but Caesar’s will names Octavius as his sole heir and the family is persuaded to stay in Rome. Octavian and Anthony concoct a plan to force Brutus’ hand and keep Octavian as Caesar., The first episode of Rome’s second season begins exactly where Season One left off, with the murder of Julius Caesar on the Ides of March in the year 44 BCE. The power struggle that follows is set in motion when, thanks largely to the machinations of Caesar’s scheming niece Atia (Polly Walker), her young and callow son Octavian is announced as heir to the throne–infuriating Caesar’s closest ally Marc Antony (James Purefoy).
