Big makes his displeasure with Carrie’s flirtation blatantly obvious, leading Carrie to realize that they need to define the grayer aspects of their evolving relationship. Speaking of relationships, Samantha (Kim Cattrall) finds herself attracted to Maria (Sonia Braga), a Brazilian artist who defines herself as a “relationship person” and would like to embark on one with Samantha. Although Samantha warns Maria that she is definitely not one for relationships, the two women decide to give it a go. Charlotte (Kristin Davis), meanwhile, is reveling in newfound carnal bliss with Trey (Kyle MacLachlan) in coatrooms all over town, but finds her enjoyment compromised by the lack of direction in their marriage. Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) also finds her bliss compromised when, after their first night together, her new man Doug (Jim Gaffigan) exhibits a no-holds-barred attitude toward relieving himself with the bathroom door open. Although she tries to be open-minded, Doug’s laisser faire treatment of his scatological functions forces Miranda to conclude that certain things just aren’t meant to be shared.
