Samantha’s getting the best from Richard, which apparently isn’t enough., After Carrie and Aidan call it quits, Carrie begins the painful process of learning to live alone again. When she discovers that Aidan has left her a letter, she settles in to read what she believes is a heartfelt ode to their love affair. But she is in for a rude awakening, as the letter is in fact regarding ownership of her apartment. Unable to buy it back, Carrie faces the prospect of a somewhat nomadic life. Will she accept Big’s monetary solution? However, when Charlotte (Kristin Davis) announces her new volunteer position at the Museum of Modern Art, Carrie gets pissed and demands to know why Charlotte, she of the cushy blue-blood lifestyle, won’t offer her a loan. When Charlotte tells her that she’s not responsible for Carrie’s finances, Carrie responds that Charlotte, who still sports her engagement ring, isn’t one to be going on about financial independence. Later, the two apologize to one another, and Charlotte offers Carrie her engagement ring to use for a loan. Meanwhile, Richard (James Remar) finally declares his love for Samantha with the help of his gay assistant, Roger (Robert John Gomes), and Miranda finds a way to ease her raging, pregnancy-challenged hormones with the help of Steve (David Eigenberg)., Carrie’s financial shortcomings come as a shock when she may need to find another place to live; Richard showers Samantha with gifts; Miranda and Steve work out a child-care schedule.
