On Broadway
When writing partners Julia (Debra Messing) and Tom (Christian Borle) reunited to create Bombshell based on the life of Marilyn Monroe, tenacious producer Eileen (Anjelica Huston) and bold director Derek (Jack Davenport) were soon on board. A battle for the role of Marilyn ensued with veteran Ivy (Megan Hilty) determined to triumph over newcomer Karen (Katharine McPhee). The road to opening night was far from smooth, however, with the production consuming all involved, creating rivalries and romances as well as ending many a relationship., “Bombshell” runs into financial trouble that threatens the production. Meanwhile, Karen is mentored by a Broadway star and discovers a new artist in an unexpected place; and Julia faces a personal crisis with her husband.
