One year on and a hatemail letter reawakens the threat that Morton is still alive and returning to Southcliffe for the anniversary of the attack., One year on from the shootings, an anonymous letter sent to David reawakens the possibility that Morton is still alive and returning to Southcliffe. Now living alone in a bedsit, David takes the letter as a sign that he needs to return to his hometown once more and confront his past. He finds a town that is just the same – the same shops, same pubs, same people strolling the streets. But in other ways things have changed. Claire is beginning to inhabit her memories, spiralling into despair, and her husband Andrew must rescue her. Bumping into Chris, David can see he is haunted by what happened. Then when he discovers an intruder has broken into his hotel room, David senses a new threat. Has the darkness that compelled Morton now come to possess Chris? David appeals to Chris’s family for help, only to be met by resentment and hostility. David realises only he can prevent tragedy revisiting Southcliffe…, In the finale, David receives an anonymous letter one year after the shootings, causing him to worry that Morton is still alive and returning to Southcliffe. As David makes his way back to his hometown, a run-in with a mentally unstable Chris leaves him shaken. Meanwhile, Andrew tries to save Claire from spiraling into despair.
