St. Martin’s Lane

Also released under the title St. Martin’s Lane, this film follows the life of street performer Charles Saggers (Charles Laughton) who meets up with the young, wayward Lilly (Vivien Leigh) and includes her in his act to keep her out of trouble. However, when Lilly’s talent is discovered by songwriter Harley Prentiss (Rex Harrison), he whisks her away to become a big star, leaving Charles friendless and brokenhearted., Street entertainers in London band together to create a troupe of artists, and are invited to begin a theatrical career.
