The story gets under way as Worf is told that his presumed-dead father is alive in a Romulan prison camp. Almost simultaneously, Data experiences his first-ever dream, which provides him with a clue pertaining to his origins. Worf and Data both embark upon separate quests in search of their “roots, ” with several startling suprises in store.
