Sentaro (Masatoshi Nagase), who has becomes slightly bored with his job as a breakfast cook, takes in the 76-year-old Tokue (Kirin Kiki) as an employee after posted an advertisement in the paper. Tokue lends her recipe for the perfect pan paste, used as a filling for dorayaki pancakes, that gives the bakery some prominence and prestige. However, an illness forces the culinary sage to draw back from the job that has given her new life., Sentaro runs a small bakery that serves dorayakis, pastries filled with sweet red bean paste. When an old lady, Tokue, offers to help in the kitchen, he reluctantly accepts. But Tokue proves to have magic in her hands when it comes to making sweet bean paste. Thanks to her secret recipe, the little business soon flourishes.
