In an episode considered by many to be the series’ best, Barney thinks he’s summoned the spirit of a 200-year-old count after he buys some fortunetelling cards and a magic lamp at an auction. Opie: Ronny Howard. Helen: Aneta Corsaut. Goober: George Lindsey., Barney is hoodwinked into purchasing a “magic kit” at an auction. Convinced of his ability to summon up the 200-year-old spirit of Count Iz Van Tileckie, Barney is equally convinced that he himself is possessed with the power of fortunetelling. His efforts to predict the future and grant wishes succeed only in getting Barney into hot water once more. First shown on December 21, 1964, “Three Wishes for Opie” was written by Richard M. Powell.
