The Anonymous Heroes takes its cues from westerns and war films as it tells the tale of Meng Kang (Chiang) and Tieh (Lung), a pair of charming rogues who find a meaningful use for their fighting skills and trickery when they cross paths with Wan (Ku Feng). Wan is a revolutionary who wants to steal a shipment of military guns for his people. Meng Kang and Tieh join him in this daring mission and also enlist the help of Pepper (Li Ching), the brassy daughter of a military official. Their quest to liberate and distribute the guns involves plenty of action, including everything from hand-to-hand fights to a chase between a train and soldiers on horseback. The Anonymous Heroes was a hit for the “Iron Triangle” team and is also notable for using the skills of martial arts choreographer Lau Kar Leung, who would later become a distinguished director in his own right.
