Billy has drinking and gambling problems but still manages to be a loving single father until the boy’s long lost mother returns wanting her son back., Updated version of the 1931 tearjerker about a former boxing champion turned gambler whose relationship with his young son is threatened by the reappearance of his now remarried ex-wife. Desperate to provide his son with the same quality of life his mother is able to offer, he decides to resume his fighting career and, in an emotionally charged climax, enters the ring for his comeback fight.
