An aspiring actor unveils the collection of letters sent to him by the late television star John F. Donovan. As he dives further into his past, he comes to realize the effect his correspondence had on his own life, as well as on the life of Donovan., This first English-language feature by Canadian Director Xavier Dolan is told via flashbacks, recounting the story of Rupert Turner (Jacob Tremblay), a child who moved with his mother (Natalie Portman) to London and sparked up an unlikely pen pal relationship with his favorite TV star John F. Donovan (Kit Harrington) at the same time. Now, he speaks to an interviewer (Thandie Newton) himself an actor (Ben Schnetzer) ten years after the death of his TV hero, recounting their unique relationship and its secrets.
