In The Kid With A Tattoo, Wong Yue plays the Jackie Chan-style role as Li Bao-Tong, the son of a cotton mill owner. He’s simple-minded and indifferent to his father’s desire for him to learn the family business but is an excellent martial artist, thanks mainly to lessons he gets from a beggar living secretly in his town. What he doesn’t know is this beggar (Yuen Bun) is actually an undercover cop trying to stop a local import company from distributing a shipment of heroin. When the cop is killed by the henchmen of the company’s corrupt owner (Wang Lung Wei), Li Bao-Tong has to use his skills to bring them to justice — a task complicated by the fact that he mistakenly believes his father (Ku Feng) is part of the criminal gang. The finished product mixes kung-fu and slapstick in equal measure, often in the same scene, and was directed by Shaw Brothers veteran Sun Chung.
