Left a paraplegic by a car accident, Frank Helner (William Sadler), a scientist for Cryo-botics, feels desperately lonely. After unsuccessfully trying to pair up Frank with an eligible human female, his boss, Charlie (Don Butler), arranges for Frank to be paired with Valerie 23 (Sofia Shinas), a companion robot prototype which has been programmed with human emotions. It is not surprising that Frank and Valerie grow very, very fond of one another. What is surprising — at least to the unforturnate Frank — is that Valerie is capable of the extremely human trait known as jealousy.
