When Texas soldier Bill Pettigrew (James Stewart) is set to be shipped overseas, he meets and become enamored of performer Daisy Heath (Margaret Sullavan). As Daisy helps to make Bill’s last days in the States less lonely, she must fend off her jealous boyfriend (Walter Pidgeon), who is convinced she’s cheating on him., A fast-living New York showgirl becomes involved with a naive Texas recruit bound for France during World War I.
