Homer (voice of Dan Castellaneta), however, figures he paid his taxes over a year ago, and doesn’t realize until the last minute that he needs to do this every year. As a result, Homer’s return is a mess of phony deductions and false paperwork, and Homer is arrested for tax fraud. Hoping to avoid prison, Homer agrees to work as an informant and part-time agent for the FBI, and finds himself given an assignment involving his boss, C. Montgomery Burns (voice of Harry Shearer). In 1945, Burns was given a one-of-a-kind trillion-dollar bill to deliver to Europe to fund postwar reconstruction, but the bill disappeared en route, and the FBI thinks Burns may still have it. As it turns out, Burns does have the money, but Homer finds himself more sympathetic to his boss’s arguments about American fiscal policy than drawn to his duties to the FBI. Homer, Burns, and Smithers (also voiced by Shearer) flee the country with the stolen bill, and Burns decides that Cuba might be a nice place to start life over, not entirely aware that Batista is no longer in power. The Trouble With Trillions was first aired on April 5, 1998.
