Just before World War II starts, Dovidl (Luke Doyle, Jonah Hauer-King, Clive Owen) is ushered into London by his father. He is taken in by Gilbert (Stanley Townsend) after he impresses him with his violin skills. When it becomes clear that his family did not survive the war, Dovidl sheds his identity and begins to focus on honing his craft. However, just before his big debut, he vanishes. Years later, his adoptive brother, Martin (Misha Handley, Gerran Howell, Tim Roth), sets out to find him.
