From Nurse to Worse
Curly acts like a dog so the boys can get insurance money in “From Nurse to Worse”., Written by former Buster Keaton gag man (Clyde Bruckman, this typical Three Stooges 2-reeler centered on Curly (Curly Howard, who is forced to act insane in order to collect on an insurance — not too difficult a task for the infantile Stooge. Pretending to be a dog, Curly is delivered to the insurance doctor on a leash, but the good doc insists on performing a cerebrum decapitation on his patient and the Stooges flee on a runaway gurney. One of the busiest starlets in the Stooges stock company, Dorothy Appleby, headed the supporting cast which also included black comic Dudley Dickerson, former boxer Cy Schindell, the formidable-looking Blanche Payson and sour-faced Ned Glass (in his second of two early Stooges appearances).
