Wassup Rockers focuses on a group of Hispanic teenagers from South Central Los Angeles who rebel against the hip-hop culture of their community and opt for tight pants, punk music, and skateboards. The story begins as the boys decide to board a bus and travel to Beverly Hills for a change of skating scenery. An innocent jaunt becomes a night of trouble as the boys clash with police, parents, and culture at large, returning with a sharply realistic new perspective on their city and their world., Larry Clark, who wrote and directed the edgy urban drama “Kids,” turns his cameras on teens of a different stripe—Latino skateboarders with a penchant for punk rock.
