Martin Rakies is an American bank investor. He is a divorced man. And has a daughter who lives in London. He is sent to Monaco to investigate a suspicious financial deal with a movie production team. Martin meets the CFO of a movie company named Lela Forin. She introduced him to the leading actor, Jake Mellows.
Martin starts his investigation and finds that something suspicious is going on within the movie production company. He further investigates and finds out about the various illegal financial deals. He finds some corrupt bankrollers.
They offer Martin a huge amount of money as a bribe to close the investigation. But Martin declines their offer. Later, he finds out that the bankrollers belong to a Mafia group from Russia. The group is led by Oleg Butraskaya. Oleg Butraskaya also runs a business of illegal pornography, kidnapping, and money laundering.
Martin decides to make a move again with these mafia props. But before he does so he finds himself in a complicated situation. Martin gets framed for an assassination attempt. He also gets charged with being hostile to the authorities. He gets accused of many false charges. The American authorities get furious over this and start the trail against Martin.
Oleg Butraskaya kidnaps Martin’s daughter and uses her to blackmail Martin, telling him not to reveal any secret about him to the legal authorities.
Actors Michael Keaton, Michael Caine, Judith Godreche, Rade Serbedzija, Matthew Marsh, Xander Berkeley, Kathleen Wilhoite, Elina Löwensohn, Hermione Norris, and William Beck are playing key roles in the movie, with various other actors in supporting roles.
Quicksand is directed by John Mackenzie. And the story of the movie is written by Timothy Prager. The production of the movie is done by Jim Reeve, Geoffrey Reeve, Randy Lippert (United States), and Bernard Mazauric (France) under the First Look Pictures, Cinerenta, and Artisan Entertainment banners.
