Only two days are left for the festival of Raksha Bandhan. This festival symbolizes the unbreakable bond of affection, love and trust between brothers and sisters. This festival not only brings together brothers and sisters but also the film world. Today we are going to tell you the stories of some such stars, who maintained this relationship very well not only in reel but also in real life.

‘Behna ne bhai ki klaai par pyar bhandha hain’… This song perfectly describes the unbreakable bond between brother and sister. On Rakshabandhan, every sister ties Rakhi on her brother’s wrist and wishes him a happy life. There have been many stars in the film industry who may not have been born from a mother’s womb, but they always followed their Rakhi religion.

Beyond the glamor of their stardom, there was a brother-sister relationship between Dilip Kumar, the Kohinoor of Indian cinema, and Lata Mangeshkar, the vocal nightingale. Regarding their relationship, Dilip’s wife Saira Banu had said that the relationship between them was more than that of brother and sister. Despite being busy with her work commitments, Lata used to tie Rakhi on Dilip’s hand and Saira used to gift Lata a brocade saree of her choice every time.

Lata Mangeshkar has shared an anecdote about Dilip Kumar in the book ‘Dilip Kumar: The Substance and the Shadow’ that one evening they were present at Kalyan ji-Anand ji’s place for dinner. There on the table was a plate decorated with betel nuts and betel nuts. After eating, he picked up the plate and presented the paan to Yusuf Bhai (Dilip Kumar). Dilip Kumar, who was sitting happily till now, expressed his displeasure and said that this is not right.

Actress Anju Mahendru considered evergreen actor Sanjeev Kumar as Rakhi Bhai. He started tying Rakhi to her during the film ‘Jai Jwala’. Anju tells that once she told Sanjeev that this time on Rakshabandhan she did not want Rs 500 but wanted a gold tissue saree. At that time that saree used to cost around Rs 2500. Sanjeev said you are crazy.
