Netflix recently unveiled its highly-anticipated What We Watched
A Netflix Engagement Report, providing insights into the most-watched Indian movies and shows on the platform during the second half of 2023. Among the notable titles were Kareena Kapoor‘s Jaane Jaan and Tabu‘s Khufiya, which captured the audience’s attention with their captivating narratives.
The report, released on Thursday, sheds light on the viewership figures of thousands of films and shows streamed on Netflix between July and December 2023. While the first edition highlighted Rana Naidu as the most-watched Indian title, the second edition offers a more detailed breakdown, separating series from shows.
Despite the plethora of content available, only one Indian title made it to the top 10 in either category. Director Sujoy Ghosh‘s Jaane Jaan, featuring a stellar cast including Kareena Kapoor, Vijay Varma, and Jaideep Ahlawat, secured the 89th spot on the list of most-watched films.
However, it was the espionage thriller Heart of Stone, starring Alia Bhatt in a rare negative role, that stole the spotlight as the second most-watched Netflix movie, garnering an impressive 109 million views.
Topping the list of most-watched movies was the Julia Roberts-starrer paranoid thriller Leave the World Behind, accumulating a staggering 121 million views. Meanwhile, on the TV front, The Railway Men, Kohrra, and Guns & Gulaabs emerged as popular choices among Netflix viewers.
As Netflix continues to provide diverse and engaging content to its global audience, these top Indian movies and shows serve as a testament to the platform’s ability to captivate viewers with compelling storytelling and talented performances.
