Sanal Kumar Sasidharan under the influence of conflict between actor Tovino Thomas posted the movie for free viewing
Sanal Kumar Sasidharan, the filmmaker, decided to adopt a novel approach in response to the continuous conflict between actor Tovino Thomas and himself. He decided to release his film Vazhakku directly on Vimeo, a website that functions similarly to YouTube and lets users upload and view videos for free. The movie, which was posted to the Sanal Kumar Sasidharan‘s Vimeo account two years ago, is now available for free viewing to the general public.

The acclaimed filmmaker stated, “The movie is for the audience to watch,” while posting a link to the video on Facebook. Those who are curious can watch it. People who are aware of the factors behind the publication’s delay will be able to relate.

Conflicts between the actor and director delayed the two-year-old film’s theatrical release, even though it won awards and was screened at esteemed events like the 54th Kerala State Film Awards, the Korean International Film Festival IFFSA-SEOUL 2022, and the International Film Festival of Kerala.

Sanal Kumar Sasidharan claims that Tovino is worried that a theatrical release would damage his reputation and impede his rise to prominence. Tovino responded by blaming the director’s activities for the film’s delay on Instagram Live. Additionally, he said that the director is blind to the reality that this festival picture did not receive the same level of attention as it did at film festivals, which led to its commercial failure. Co-producer Tovino stated that the film’s failure to be released on OTT platforms is the director’s fault.
Vazhakku, which co-starred Kani Kusruti, Sudev Nair, and Azees Nedumangad with Tovino Thomas, was produced by Parrot Mount Pictures and Tovino Thomas Productions. Prithvi Chandrasekhar provided the music. It remains to be seen if the two will work things out, remove the movie’s link, and plan for an in-theater or over-the-top distribution.
