Shah Rukh Khan: Didn’t Want to Act After Zero Failure

Shah Rukh Khan’s next film will be an action thriller titled The King, directed by Sujoy Ghosh.

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan spoke on the failure of his 2018 film Zero and its impact on his career. Despite high anticipation, the picture underperformed at the box office. He portrayed the character of a man who is vertically challenged. In a recent interview, the superstar revealed that the film’s failure had a severe impact on him, prompting him to take a vacation from filming.

Shah Rukh Khan admitted that after Zero, he lost the will to instantly start new ventures. Speaking to Variety, SRK stated, “The hiatus was not due to the films. I’ve always said that if I don’t feel like waking up in the morning and tackling the shoot, I don’t want to work. To be honest, it was not the movie’ failure. I was shooting a film in January, and this was in December. This is quite unprofessional of me. I woke up and said, ‘I don’t want to go shoot this film.’ I called the producer and informed him that I don’t want to work for a year. I simply didn’t want to act. I did not feel like acting. Because acting comes naturally to me.”

Shah Rukh Khan also commented on the period that prompted him to make the films he is interested in. He considered the potential and parameters of commercial cinema, focussing on its various elements such as music, dances, conflicts, and emotions. He worked on films that he was interested in, like Jab Harry Met Sejal, Zero, and Fan.
