Stree 2: Box Office Clash with Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham’s Vedaa

Stree 2 producer has commented on the film’s battle with Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein: Says, ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’

The Stree 2 trailer, which was released on Thursday, has received a tremendous response. The horror-comedy is a sequel to the 2018 smash hit Stree. Amar Kaushik directed the film, which stars Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurrana, and Abhishek Banerjee. The film’s initial release date was set for August 30, 2024. However, it will now be in theatres on August 15. Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor‘s film will collide with two other films, Vedaa and Khel Khel Mein.

In Khel Khel Mein, Akshay Kumar and Taapsee Pannu play the key roles. On the other hand, Vedaa stars John Abraham, Sharvari Wagh, and Tamannaah Bhatia. On Thursday, the Stree 2 team was in Mumbai for a major trailer unveiling. During the occasion, Jyoti Deshpande, the film’s producer, answered concerns concerning the dispute between their film and Akshay and John’s films.

The trailer unveiling, the Stree 2 producer remarked that there are only 52 weeks in a year. They do not distribute films during Hindu festivities, the IPL, Ramdan, or when a Khan film or a major South Indian film is released. This leaves them with only 20 weeks. Jyoti described it as survival of the fittest, or jungle law. Furthermore, Jyoti Deshpande stated that they are quite confident in their film and bring a sense of Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar.

Meanwhile, Stree 2 marks the fourth installment in Maddock Films’ horror-comedy universe. Maddock Films has already released three films: Stree (2018), Bhediya (2022), starring Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon, and Munjya (2024), starring Abhay Varma and Sharvari. Amar Kaushik also directed Bhediya, and the sequel is slated to be released in 2025.

In the upcoming Stree 2 trailer, Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurrana, and Abhishek Banerjee face a fresh nightmare in Chanderi. The ‘Sarkata’, also known as the headless man, who was responsible for Stree’s death has returned to terrorise the locals. The trailer gives off a playful and eerie vibe, leaving us eager to see what else is in store for us. Tamannaah Bhatia makes a guest appearance in the film. The creators acknowledged at the trailer unveiling that they already had plans for a third installment.
