The Sultan of Delhi is the story of Arjun Bhatia. The series is set in the decade of 1960. It was after the partition of India. Many families moved to India at that time. Arjun belongs to a family of immigrants who moved from Lahore to Delhi.
It was a struggle for the immigrant to survive in the new city after leaving the previous place where they had deep roots of establishment. Arjun Bhatia faced the same struggle for survival. He wanted to become successful in a short time.
The young man starts to smuggle weapons into UP. He became successful in arms smuggling. Then other people join him, and he starts to gain the name of the leading arms dealer. He became the king of the UP arms mafia. Slowly, he started to extend his roots towards the capital city of Delhi.
In Delhi, after a lot of planning and conspiracy, he became the most powerful broker of arms supplies. But all this success takes a total opposite turn when he faces the shadows of his past lingering in his present. He fights back for his powerful position.
The Sultan of Delhi is a story of greed, betrayal, courage, and power.
Actors Tahir Raj Bhasin, Mouni Roy, Anjum Sharma, Vinay Pathak, Anupriya Goenka, Nishant Dahiya, Mehreen Pirzada, and Harleen Sethi play the key roles, with various other actors playing supporting roles in the series.
The series is inspired by the novel Sultan of Delhi, written by Arnab Ray.
The story of the series is written and directed by Suparn Verma and Milan Luthria. The series is produced by Namit Sharma and Reliance Entertainment in association with Celltrion Entertainment.
The series premieres on October 13, 2023, on Disney+.
