He is bound to sell some share of his business to meet the financial demands made by the financial institutions of the Mississippi State Insurance Commission. He has made a contract with Raymond Loewon from the Loewen Group. Raymond Loewon never fulfilled anything mentioned in the oral agreement. One of the young lawyers, Hal Dawkins, tells O’Keefe that Raymond Loewon is trying to snatch his entire business. He is deliberately not supporting O’Keefe so that he will go bankrupt and then Loewon will overtake his business.
This information makes O’Keefe angry. He decides to file a case against Loewon. He approaches a very efficient black lawyer, Willie E. Gary. He has never lost a single case in his entire career. O’Keefe feels that Gary will not be easily manipulated by white contract attorney Mike Allred. During the case settlement discussion, tension between Garry and Mike starts to arise. Garry starts taking over, Mike. Gary rejects the settlement offer made by Mike and demands $100 million for the settlement. Sensing that his side is getting weak, Leowon also hires a black lawyer team, which is led by Mame Downes.
In the courtroom, Downes accused O’Keefe of many false accusations. He gets concerned about his reputation. He believes that all this happened because of Gary’s unexpected demand for a settlement. He again changed his attorney’s lawyer and now appoints Dawkins as his lawyer. The case proceedings get tensed, and Dawkins is not able to stand again against the black attorney lawyer Downes. Now Gary comes forward to help O’Keefe. He uncovers the dark secrets going beneath all these events.
