“The Sabarmati Report” pays homage to the 59 Hindu pilgrims who were burnt alive near Godhra station
Since time immemorial, throughout the history of the world we have witnessed the tendency of those who are in power, have always tried to hid the truth under the ground so that they can have a greater control over the mass. But for how long? We have witnessed such events through centuries that how hard people try to hide the truth, its later comes out becoming more stronger and powerful.
If we talk about India, such events have happened again and again. For the time being, the dirty politics played by the power-hungry people, could hide evidences and flip the story to the other side. But the nature of truth is that it will come out when the time is right.
Talking about such an incident, that happened on 27th February 2002, Shobha Kapoor, Amul V Mohan, Ektaa R Kapoor and Anshul Mohan under the banner of Balaji Motion Pictures, paid homage to the 59 innocent lives,through the movie, The Sabarmati Report. The victims were burnt alive in the Godhra train burning incident, near Godhra station, when the pilgrims were returning from Ayodhya via Sabarmati Express. The ghastly incident shook the nation, yet the truth was never been told immediately; it has always been stated as an accident, even when speculations were that someone caused the incident and framed it later on.
The trailer shows Vikrant Massey as a Hindi investigating journalist, along with Raashi Khanna and Ridhi Dogra (who plays a TV anchor) tries to show the reality to the people. They even visit the location of the incident to get some clues that will lead them to the truth. But they have been opposed again and again by the higher management. When they already have the facts to prove that the incident was actually a planned attack on the victims, go for courtroom trials.
Vikrant Massey has given us massive hits one after the other. His last movie was the 12th Fail, which had widely been loved by the audience. In his last few movies, we have seen Vikrant developing his own style of acting, which is relatable to the viewers, even staying in the commercial mainstream media. for the first time, we are going to see Raashi Khanna playing a de-glammed, yet powerful character. We have already seen Ridhi Dogra playing diverse characters in both small screens and big screens.
With the trailer released on 28th March, expectations are soaring high from this powerful trio. The Sabarmati Report is based on a real-life incident that took place 22 years ago. Will the victims get justice? Catch The Sabarmati Report in the nearby theaters on 3rd May.
