The series tells the story of an undercover human rights defender. As migrants battle human traffickers and government officials, he is helping migrants travel from Africa to Europe.
A group of refugees is trying to sail across the ocean through a boat. They are travelling from Africa to Europe. They don’t have legal documents. They are trying to travel across the ocean in an illegal way. Unfortunately, their boat caught fire in an accident. They are surrounded by water and there is no place to escape from fire.
A cruise ship that passes by them gets to notice the boat has caught fire, and the passengers of the boat are struggling to save their lives. The captain of the cruise ship decides to take in the drowning passengers on board. He gives shelter to the victim of an unfortunate incident.
Later, when the captain gets to know that they are all refugees and were trying to sail through illegal means, he orders them to return to Libya. He cannot take refugees on his cruise as they don’t have legal documents. The captain suggested they return to Libya. He offers them a boat through which they can sail back to Africa.
The refugees are furious at this decision. They don’t want to return back. They don’t have any other options to reach Europe. They decide to take the cruise ship as a hostage. This develops a conflict between the refugees and the cruise members. Will these refugees be able to reach Eurasia? Or do they have to return to Africa? What will the consequences of their criminal actions?
Actors Marco Bocci, Jessica Schwarz, Dada Fungula Bozela, Sylvester Groth, and Scot Williams are playing key roles in the series.

The story of the TV series is inspired by a book titled Bilal, written by journalist Fabrizio Gatti.
Stefano Bises has created and written the story of the series. Alessandro Valenti, Bernardo Pellegrini, and Michela Straniero have also contributed their skills to the development of the story.
Unwanted is produced by Sky Studios, Pantaleon Films, and Indiana Production. The series is directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel.
