The bullet struck Ram Prasad on the left side of his chest. Police reported that a provincial armed constabulary (PAC) commando sustained injuries on his chest in an incident of “accidental firing” while cleaning his weapon at his post within the Ram Janmabhoomi complex on Tuesday evening.

The platoon commander posted in the Shri Ram Temple complex was seriously injured by firing from his own AK-47. He was brought to Shriram Hospital, from where he was referred to the Medical College, Lucknow. After the operation in the medical college, he was referred to Lucknow in critical condition. The accident took place at around 05:45 pm on Tuesday evening at the post located in the campus.
